A Steadfast Heart — Psalm 112:7

Difficult news can arrive without warning.

A phone call.

A message.

A headline.

Something we were not expecting.

And within moments, our thoughts can begin racing toward everything that might happen next.

Psalm 112:7 gives us another picture:

Psalm 112:7

“He will not be afraid of evil news. His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.”
— Psalm 112:7 WEBU

Reflection / Encouragement

The verse does not say that troubling news will never come.

It tells us something about the heart of the person who trusts God.

“His heart is steadfast.”

Steadiness does not come from knowing that every circumstance will turn out exactly as we hope.

It comes from knowing where our confidence rests.

The verse explains it plainly:

“trusting in the LORD.”

Fear often tries to move our attention toward everything that could go wrong.

Trust brings our attention back to the character of God.

He remains faithful when circumstances change.

He remains present when answers are unclear.

He remains trustworthy when tomorrow feels uncertain.

A steadfast heart does not mean we never feel concern.

It means concern does not become our foundation.

We can acknowledge what is difficult while continuing to place our confidence in God.

If something has unsettled your heart today, bring it back to him.

Let your trust in the LORD become firmer than your fear of what might happen next.

A Quiet Moment

If something has unsettled your heart today, take a quiet moment to place your trust back in God.
