CHRISTIAN QUOTE OF THE DAY
“There is rest in faith. The very act of confidence is repose.”

Exposition of Matthew 11:28–29
Alexander Maclaren wrote these words while reflecting on the invitation of Jesus in Matthew 11:28–29.
Jesus calls the weary and burdened to come to him.
Maclaren draws attention to what happens when we actually trust that invitation.
“There is rest in faith.”
Faith moves the weight of our confidence.
Instead of depending entirely upon ourselves to understand everything, solve everything, and control every outcome, we place our confidence in Christ.
Maclaren describes the very act of confidence as “repose.”
That is a helpful picture of faith.
We stop gripping everything quite so tightly.
We stop acting as though every outcome rests entirely upon our shoulders.
We come to Jesus with what we are carrying.
The circumstances may not immediately change.
The responsibility may still be there tomorrow.
But something within us can change.
The burden is no longer being carried alone.
Faith gives the weary heart somewhere to rest.
Quote Reflection
Faith does not require us to understand or control everything before we can rest.
Alexander Maclaren reminds us that placing our confidence in Christ is itself an act of letting the heart rest in someone greater than ourselves.
