God Is My Strength — Habakkuk 3:19
There are paths in life that make us aware of how limited our own strength can be.
Some are steep.
Some are uncertain.
Some require us to keep moving even when we do not feel particularly strong.
Habakkuk 3:19 ends the prophet’s prayer with a declaration of confidence:
Habakkuk 3:19
“GOD, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer’s feet, and enables me to go in high places. For the music director, on my stringed instruments.”

Reflection / Encouragement
Notice what Habakkuk says first:
“GOD, the Lord, is my strength.”
He does not simply say that God gives him strength.
God himself is his strength.
That distinction matters.
We have somewhere beyond ourselves to look.
The image that follows is equally powerful:
“He makes my feet like deer’s feet…”
A deer can move securely across places that would seem difficult or unstable to us.
The picture is one of sure footing.
God does not always remove every difficult path.
Sometimes he gives us the strength and steadiness to walk through it.
Habakkuk then says that God “enables me to go in high places.”
That ability comes from God.
So when the path before you feels beyond your own strength, you do not need to pretend that you are stronger than you are.
Look toward the One who is strong.
Ask him for steady feet.
Take the next step.
And remember that the God who calls you forward is able to give you the strength you need along the way.
A Quiet Moment
If the path ahead feels difficult today, take a quiet moment to look toward God for strength.
