Christian Quote of the Day — Isaac Watts | October 23, 2026

Isaac Watts wrote these words in a hymn that has encouraged Christians for more than three centuries.

They look in two directions at once.

Backward:

“our help in ages past.”

And forward:

“our hope for years to come.”

Faith remembers.

We remember the times God has sustained us, guided us, strengthened us, and carried us through things we once wondered how we would face.

But faith also looks ahead.

The God who helped us yesterday has not become less faithful today.

We may not know what tomorrow will bring.

We may not know what challenges or opportunities lie ahead.

But our hope does not depend upon knowing every detail.

God is our help.

And because his character remains unchanged, we can trust him with what is still unseen.
