My Help Comes from the LORD — Psalm 121:1–2
There are moments when we naturally begin looking around for help.
We look at our circumstances.
We consider our own strength.
We think about the people, resources, and possibilities available to us.
Psalm 121 begins with a question:
Psalm 121:1–2
“1 A Song of Ascents. I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”

Reflection / Encouragement
The answer is immediate.
“My help comes from the LORD.”
The psalmist does not place his ultimate confidence in the hills themselves or in anything he can see around him.
His confidence is in God.
And notice how God is described:
The One “who made heaven and earth.”
The God we turn to for help is not limited by the things that overwhelm us.
He is the Creator.
His strength is greater than ours.
His wisdom reaches beyond what we can see.
That does not mean we will never need practical help from other people or that every difficulty will disappear immediately.
But it reminds us where our deepest confidence belongs.
We do not have to carry everything alone.
When you do not know what to do next, lift your eyes toward God.
When your own strength feels limited, lift your eyes toward God.
When the situation before you seems larger than you are, remember who made heaven and earth.
Your help comes from the LORD.
A Quiet Moment
Whatever you are facing today, take a quiet moment to lift your eyes toward God and remember where your help comes from.
