Christian Quote of the Day — B. W. Johnson | November 1, 2026

B. W. Johnson wrote these words while commenting on James 1:17.

The verse declares that every good and perfect gift comes from above.

Johnson captures that truth in a simple sentence:

“All gifts that truly bless us are God’s gifts.”

There is something helpful about learning to recognise life this way.

We can enjoy a blessing without thinking much about where it came from.

But gratitude asks us to pause.

To notice.

To remember.

The good thing before us may have come through another person.

It may have arrived through an opportunity.

It may be something ordinary that has been present for so long that we barely notice it anymore.

But ultimately, every true good leads us back toward God.

That does not mean life contains only easy circumstances.

James himself writes about trials earlier in the chapter.

But even within difficult seasons, God remains good.

And the gifts that truly bless us remain reminders of his generosity.

So notice the good today.

Receive it gratefully.

And let the gift turn your attention toward the Giver.
