My Heart Trusts Him — Psalm 28:7

Trust often begins before we know how the answer will come.

We pray.

We wait.

We move forward with what we know.

And somewhere in that process, faith asks us to place our confidence in God.

Psalm 28:7 gives us a beautiful picture of what can follow:

Psalm 28:7

“The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him.”
— Psalm 28:7 WEBU

Reflection / Encouragement

Notice the order.

“My heart has trusted in him…”

Trust comes first.

The psalmist places his confidence in the LORD.

Then he says:

“and I am helped.”

The trust was not empty.

God had become his help.

And that recognition produces another response:

“Therefore my heart greatly rejoices.”

Trust has become help.

Help has become joy.

And joy becomes thanksgiving:

“With my song I will thank him.”

Faith is not only about asking God for what we need.

It is also about recognizing his help when it comes.

Sometimes that help looks like a changed circumstance.

Sometimes it looks like strength for another day.

Sometimes it comes through another person.

Sometimes it is simply the quiet assurance that we are not facing something alone.

Whatever you are carrying today, keep trusting God.

And as you notice his help along the way, do not rush past it.

Let gratitude have its place too.

Trust him.

Recognize his help.

And thank him.

A Quiet Moment

Take a quiet moment today to remember where God has helped you, and let gratitude become part of your response.
