CHRISTIAN QUOTE OF THE DAY
“The secret is Christ in me, not me in a different set of circumstances.”
— Elisabeth Elliot
Source: Keep a Quiet Heart
It is easy to imagine that peace would come if something around us changed.
If the problem disappeared.
If the uncertainty ended.
If the difficult person behaved differently.
If life looked more like the version we had hoped for.
Elisabeth Elliot points us somewhere deeper.
“The secret is Christ in me…”
Christian confidence is not built upon creating perfect circumstances.
It is built upon Christ.
That does not mean circumstances are unimportant.
Some situations genuinely need to change.
Some require action, prayer, patience, or wisdom.
But our relationship with God does not need to wait until everything around us becomes easier.
Christ is present now.
He is present in the unanswered question.
Present in the ordinary day.
Present in the disappointment.
Present in the work still waiting to be done.
We can keep wishing that life were different and miss the grace God is giving us within the life we actually have.
Not someday.
Not somewhere else.
Here.
Quote Reflection
Our deepest confidence does not depend upon arranging every circumstance exactly as we would like.
Elisabeth Elliot reminds us that Christ remains present within the life we actually have. We can trust him here, not only in the circumstances we wish were different.
